DONATIONS
As President and Chief Operating Officer of SOX IN A BOX, one of my most difficult tasks has been to
ask people who work so very hard for their money or their allowances to donate money or new pairs of
socks to our organization. However, I have been told that the most amazing aspect of our charity is
that it takes only a dollar (sometimes even less money!) to make a difference in a needy person's life
and that for many of us, it is less than the price of a Starbuck's Coffee drink or a trip to our nearest
convenience store for a snack!
Some of the people who receive our socks are walking barefoot through mud or dirt
with sharp objects that can cause life-threatening tetanus. Many other needy people are living in
sub-freezing temperatures high up in the mountains and probably need two or three sets of our socks on
their feet at one time to protect against the condition of hyperthermia.
The point is by mailing in only one dollar to us you can keep the feet of another
human being just like you safe and warm! So many of us take the underwear and socks that we have in our
drawers for granted and don't give them another thought. Yet, some of our recipients wash the one pair of
our socks that they receive from us everyday for months as if it was their greatest treasure! Our socks are
not only used for foot protection but some people tell us that they use their socks to store their money
and as to serve as sieves to separate out the bugs and insects that get into their flour. And, of course,
your donation is tax-deductible because we are a 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporation, Tax ID number 48-1288010.
If you don't have time to go to your nearest discount store to buy new pairs of socks
to send us, it is so easy to make a donation of money in kind and we would be delighted to purchase the
socks for you or in the alternative, use some of the money to offset our tremendous packing and shipping
expenses. Any amount will be appreciated! Again, no money donated is spent on salaries or is used in any
way to compensate our volunteers!
Please send your donation using the information on our Contact Us page.
